Gardai are investigating a vicious assault on a 54 year old man from Glasderry Beg , Brosna in Offaly.
The man was attacked at his home last night at roughly 2a.m. when a gang broke into his home.
The man was also violently beaten, and endured a number of attacks to his person including being viciously beaten outside his own property by the gang.
The man has since been brought to Tullamore hospital after the alarm was raised.
The Gardai believe that the thieves were from Limerick based on their accents.
The man’s property is currently undergoing a technical examination by a Garda forensic team.
